Grief & Death Care
TRANSMUTING TIME THROUGH LOSS
Death & grief care for the MISFITS,the FREAKS,and the RABBLE ROUSERS
If you’re feeling lost in the all-consuming waves of a death or grief journey, you are not alone.
Death and grief should not be hidden, rushed, or privatized. These are processes tied to community, culture, and identity. I am here to walk alongside you as you wade into unknown waters.
My name is Leah Levine. I am a long time care worker, a proud Chicagoan, and a chihuahua lover. I’ve spent a majority of my adult life doing social movement work— either professionally or personally. Between the pages of care work, social organizing, and loving my friends, family, and partners with all my might, I became deeply familiar with death, complex grief, and the whirlwind of emotions that sweep you up during big life changes.
Tidal Pool Care was born out of a desire to provide mindful, values-based care to people at the end of their lives, or the end of a chapter in their lives.
I believe that community is the best balm, and I use a model of care that draws from the lessons I’ve learned from the queer liberation and disability justice movement. I want to honor your principles and beliefs as I strengthen your networks of care, help build rituals that calm your body and ease your mind, and coordinate vigils and celebrations of life that honor your loved one, your cause, and your values.
When my beloved dog, Pineapple, died in March 2025, I felt moved to transmute my long-existing grief into something that would give meaning to my life. I soon realized that the meaning of life was its precious, ephemeral nature. That summer, I signed up for Going with Grace’s death doula training program, took courses with Deathwives, and became a certified end of life doula with the National End of Life Doula Association. I am incredibly grateful for the journey that has led me here, and I hope our work together will bring you peace as you navigate grief and death.
